View Full Version : Jato problems...
Hey all,
I recently bought a used Jato 2.5 and I noticed that the truck will roll forward with no problem. It will not roll backward as it seems something is binding. When I lift one side of the truck and roll it in reverse, the tire spins in reverse.
Puzzled - please help out a noob!:D :D :D :D

If you lift just the back of the truck and spin just one wheel, does the other wheel spin in the same direction or the opposite direction. check the front as well and get back to me. it may be that you have a spool or diff locker that gives you posi. in the diffs.
how do you mean it won't roll in reverse

When I lift the rear of the truck and spin the right tire in reverse, the left tire turns forward. The same when I spin the left rear tire in reverse, the right turns forward. When I spin the right tire forward, the left turns forward as well.:D :D :D :D

When I pick the truck up by the front end and try and push it backwards on the floor, the rear tires won't move at all. :D :D :D :D

To my understanding this usually means that the gears are too deeply meshed together, the clutch bell gear and the trans gear. I have'nt had the problem, but in the directions that came with my truck it states that it won't roll backwards if the gears are too tight. I hope that helps. Mike
I got to checking things over and found that the engine has the wrong flywheel for the JATO and that when the bolts are tightened through the frame and into the motor mount, the flywheel is hitting the transmission and not letting much of anything turn. (the engine won't turn over either - everything is in a bind) I will get the right flywheel and try all of your suggestions upon rebuild.
AGAIN, THANKS TO ALL:D :D :D :D
