Does anyone have any experience with the Kyosho DST or DBX? I found one for $220, and am wondering if it's worth the money. I would really like a 4WD truck, but really don't have a lot of money. I would also prefer to stick with a stadium truck style, rather than a monster truck. Please let me know what you all think.

i have yet to see any real detailed photos of it, but it looks like a cool truck. Basicially a 1/8 truggy scaled down to about 1/10 scale. Kyosho quality is usually pretty good too. I'd be very interested to see some close ups of the drivetrain and suspension

Those are the same parts I was kind of worried about also. That said, being fairly new to rc, I don't know exactly what to look for that would make it good or bad. Any help would be great. I can't decided if I would be better with it or something 2wd.

Does anyone know if the parts for the DSX are at least mostly interchangeable? I really like the looks of the DST, but I'm a little worried about getting parts for it. Also, my very first R/C was a Kyosho stadium truck of some sort. I never did get it to run right. When I finally did get it to start, the radio didn't work, it took off full throttle across the yard right into a tree. Long story short, I sent back the pieces. This one should be better, right?

i would certainly hope so - and you cannot beat that price! 4wd is much easier to drive than 2wd, and it should make a good basher or a racer if you ever want to hit the track (no idea what class it would fit into though) Looks like you could go wild with aftermarket shocks, wheels, bodies, motors and exhausts. In fact, looking at the truck, the exhaust would be the first upgrade i would look into. i don't think hop-ups would be a problem. i do like the pivot ball suspension, a very nice set-up.

Where would be a good place to find parts? On Kyosho's website, I found a few parts for the DSX, but nothing for the DST. Now, like I said, I'm pretty new to this, but there's not "universal" parts are there, besides wheels and maybe tires? Shocks, exhausts, etc have to be engine and model specific, don't they? Sorry for all the questions, but I really appreciate the help. I don't plan on racing, so for bashing purposes, would the DST or an RC10GT2 be a better buy. Oh, I was wrong also, the DST is $230 for the readyset or whatever Kyosho calls it. You can see it on Amainhobbies.com. Thanks again for all the help.

I wish i had found the DST before i got my mt2. the DST is one sweet little truck. Unfortunatly i dont think there are any kyosho dealers in town o parts may be tough to find. I am sure your LHS can figure out the parts situation for you aslong as they are a kyosho dealer

My LHS is pretty much anyone on the internet. I live in a small town in a pathetic state, and the closest place I know of that sells anything R/c related is about 2 hours away, and I don't even know if they're still open, so I anything I need will have to come off the internet. For the money, how would you say it stacks up against say, the Associated RC10GT2 or the Ofna Ultra LX1? I know they're all kind of in a seperate cl**** but those are kind of the three I'm considering right now. Nothing I get will probably ever see any track time if that matters.

they are pretty universal. any .15 to .18 engine should fit, and with that layout you can use pretty much any exhaust or header from any manufacturer. (and HPI MT header for example will bolt right on) Same with shocks, as long as the overall length is close, you can make any one fit.

the GT2 and LX1 are both solid vehicles, i wouldn't say any of them is better or worse then any others, they all have their strong and weak points and different missions. From a backyard racer perspective, have you given any thoughts to the CEN MG10 or magnum series? they are tough trucks and should be well within your price range, and Tower hobbies has now joined up with CEN so they'll have excellent parts support. if you are pretty far from a LHS, i would highly consider a small block - mush less trips (or deliveries) for nitro fuel

Thanks again for all the continued help. I originally was looking at the CEN MG10MT, but there's a whole lot of plastic on it, including the chassis, and I haven't been able to find any reviews on it to help me out one way or the other. And again, I don't plan to go nuts with whatever I get, but as parts break, I would really like to be able to replace them with something bigger and better, and probably aluminum. Same with the hot bodies stadium truck, doesn't look to bad, but didn't know about initial quality and parts availability.
