What does flipping the chassis do for you? I just got my WK today, so I have not spent much time looking for ways to customize it or alter it.

phil to answer your question...the chassis flip is a crawlers modification to put the battery in front without having to mount the battery under the reciever...i have pics to give you an idea. and hoogy just follow these pics and descriptions i have...

Well, seeing as how I just got back in from TRYING to do some crawling, I could use the intel. Of coarse I will need to lock my axles too. Maybe a crawler motor and low low gears. But I defanatly need the battery up front, and new treads that grip better. Will I need to lower the stance, or leangthen the wheel base, or perhaps even the width for better stablility.

ok so step one you'll want to take the axles off the truck. once thats done take the left side chassis plate (tubing) and take the radio tray off. you'll have to take the reciever off and take the servo out. now flip the tray to the right...--> --> then it should look like the first pic which is taken from the right side of the truck.

ok so once you switch the radio tray, now you will have to switch the lil arm thats mounted to the transmission to the other side. this pic is taken from the right side of the truck

ok so now take your steering rod that comes from the chassis and route it to the back of the truck. and after you do this, it gets to the more complex part the axles and the ability to steer. ok so now what you have to do is take the 3 link mount off the rear axle and flip it around. notice that the curve of the mount is backwards...this makes it posible to have the steering rod connect.
(note that the flip was done to a stretched truck so the steering rod wasnt long enough so if doing this to a stock wheelbase wheely king, the stock steering rod will work.)

ok so now to flipping the axles to get the correct rotation. all you have to do is take the knuckles off and flip the actual axle...in the first pic is the stock axle with the words right side up. the flipped axle has the words upside down. now to check proper rotation, simply plug in a battery and mount the driveshaft to the axles driveshaft end and if the tires forward rotation is towards the back of the truck then your in good shape...do the same to the other axle.

i run a novak rooster crawler edition esc mated to a novak fifty-fivr 55t motor. as for low low gearing, you want lowgearing but nothing too low because you want some wheelspeed. i run 12t pinion and 96t spur. both are 48pitch
i am also cutting the front tires until i get some rockclaws.

oh and as for cutting those tires...as you can see it makes the stock tires super soft compared to the uncut stock tires! i was quite suprised!

oh i love the capabilities of it now. even with the stock chassis, i can crawl 70 degree inclines now. i also added weight to the tires via bb's
