help with motor!!!

I have a Le Mans 480Gold motor that my dad got for his rc10 a long time ago and I am hoping to use that motor in the rc10 after i get the needed electronics but i dont know how many turn it is :confused: . If anyone knows could you tell me. Also does anyone know if it was a good motor when it came out, just wondering.

probably a 19t, maybe higher. Get a traxxas XL-10 ESC for it...it was a pretty good motor back in the day (it's from AE, c'mon!) but there's no telling what time did to that motor...

actually the motor is kyosho sorry i forgot that in the first post
but my dad got it for the rc10 so i could see your confusion.
its in great shape so i dont have to worry about that
if its 19t its what i was hoping it was close to.
the xl-10 seems good.Its not that expensive and i trust traxxas stuff.

I'm sure the motor was ok back in the day, although I don't know much about that time frame when it comes to motors, and what not). Although I do know that it won't stack up to a modern motor as the modern ones are just made better, however with that in mind I would just use it as it should be easy on the car (if you are useing it in the RC10).

BTW does the motor have a sealed end bell, or can you take it off? (that will help give us an idea as to what type of motor it is)

ya its probably not even close to the modern motors
since its a 25t motor
i found this google when i was trying to get more info on it
mine 2nd in from top right

as for the sealed end bell
i dont know much about electric motors but i think it is able to come off but im not sure

Today i ordered most of the parts i need to finish the RC10
once i get my pictures to fit ill try to show my progress
cant wait untill its all together

i got everything i ordered on friday and drove all day today.
it runs great but
im thinking about buying a new motor and batteries

new batteries because i only get about 3 min of run time out of the one i have
and a new engine because mine isnt that fast
but i might wait to get the motor for the summer
im thinking something around the 12-14 turn range

go with a novak 4300ss system and duratrax 4200mah 6-cell shotgun packs... and a Vision Peak 2 while ur at it...
