So I bought a new cooling head for my T-maxx 2.5, now I was told by the local RC guy that its one shim per 10% nitro and I'm running 20% so thats 2 shims right? Well there was only 1 shim when I took it apart, so can someone school me?

If you took it as insulting then your just tooooo sensitive. I am willing to go out on a limb here and say that if I asked " What car should I get?" I would have had 6 posts on the first day, I thought this is where I could go to get answer, I figured it was easy for those that have been around awhile. Any ways I went somewhere else and it was answered with in 2 hours but thanks anyway. Guess I found my site for good info. Now if you want to be insulted by this post then your in your right mind.

Ahh I know bout NITRO! I would probaly use one if thats what came off. If that doesnt look like its right, try another shim. Never heard the nitro rule on shims, I think there pullin ur leg!

I don't belive this to be true, the shims are used to alter compression, so if it is detonating you add a shim, sometimes higher altitude can cause the need for a new shim, also pinging is need for a shim. if you start with one and hear pinging or plug shows signs of detonation then add a shim if not you should be fine, i run byron 30% and only use one shim with good results. also sometimes using a hot or cold plug can change the results as well....
hope this helps you some.

Its a shame you didn't give this community a chance:( There's alot of good people on this site that know a thing or two. Sometimes you just have to be patient:)
