This is a compilation article of RC Driver's Jason Carter's live build of the Tamiya CR-01. You can read about it on our Forum by clicking here. _________________________________________________________________________________ Step 6Eight E-clips, eight .3mm shims, eight bearings, and five minutes spent looking for a lost E-clip.
Diffs ready to go together...
Diffs are assembled and ready to go into the axles...
More on the axles. Notice the webbing in the axle cases. This was added to increase strength instead of being hollow like TLT and other axles housings. I installed the pins to lock the diff in this step.

Assembled the Cs and knuckles.
The Cs allow you to set caster at either 15 or 25 degrees. The front should be at 15, the rear at 25.
The trick is that the Cs are both part J2 but there's an A and B part.
Axles are built. Kingpin to kingpin is 163mm on centers. TLT is 137mm on centers, Wheely King is 169mm on centers. Hi-Lift axles are 143mm. I've included comparison shots with a TLT axle, a Wheely King axle, and the three together. It's wider than a TLT, narrower than a WK.
Next, the steering. Continued on page 3... Click here for the next page. 1 | 2 | 3 | 4
