Step 6

Eight E-clips, eight .3mm shims, eight bearings, and five minutes spent looking for a lost E-clip.

Diffs ready to go together...

Diffs are assembled and ready to go into the axles...

More on the axles. Notice the webbing in the axle cases. This was added to increase strength instead of being hollow like TLT and other axles housings. I installed the pins to lock the diff in this step.

A: They lock like a Hi-Lift but part numbers say that they are different. The part number for the LC40 shafts is 9808178. The Hi-Lift shafts are listed as 3485158 and 3485159. Without ripping the Hi-lift apart to put calipers on them, it's hard to say right now.

Axle progress...

Spring perches installed on axles.

Assembled the Cs and knuckles. The Cs allow you to set caster at either 15 or 25 degrees. The front should be at 15, the rear at 25. The trick is that the Cs are both part J2 but there's an A and B part.
The parts are labeled (see images) so that'll help clarify things. The letters should be facing up when you install the steering knuckles. The arms on the steering knuckles are not centered vertically...pay attention. The high side of the arms goes with the letter side of the C...if that makes any sense.

Axles are built. Kingpin to kingpin is 163mm on centers. TLT is 137mm on centers, Wheely King is 169mm on centers. Hi-Lift axles are 143mm. I've included comparison shots with a TLT axle, a Wheely King axle, and the three together. It's wider than a TLT, narrower than a WK.
