Started the steering.

Running low on servos so I grabbed an Airtronics 94357 from the bin. I'm using the stock servo saver (See how it does on this crawler) so the 94357 should be enough to make the servo saver wad up if it's going to.

All the SS springs are installed.

Front axle assembly is complete.

I used that old Airtronics servo and after assembling things as the manual states. I had to shave one of the unused screw bosses on part B3 so the pivot ball for the steering link would clear. I could have shimmed the servo forward but this was easier.

No, not a power screwdriver here. Never use them for assembling kits. I've found a problem in the instructions.
With the rear knuckles canted at 25 degrees you can't install the rear toe link in the innermost holes in the steering knuckles as indicated in the instructions. Part B3 (large webbed piece above the diff) is directly in the path of the toe link.

I moved the toe link to the outer holes and everything fit like it should.

Had a visitor.

Working through the suspension install. The front axle is hung from 4-links.
The front upper links are based off a 48mm center aluminum shaft and the other six links are built from 68mm shafts.

Standing on it's own.
I'm at a stopping point for tonight. Will start again in the morning. 2 A.M. here now.

Transmission is built. All the planetary gears ride on bearings. Motor is a standard Mabuchi 540 with a 20 tooth pinion.

Jumped ahead to the wheels and tires. I'll be heading out shortly so this will be the last post until about 9 P.M. Eastern.
These wheels are 1.4" in width.
Tried to pull the bead out of the wheels - no luck.
Shouldn't have a problem with the beads coming out.

After installing 80 screws all four tires are mounted.

Got some shoes on. It builds up to an 11" wheelbase if you follow the instructions. Track width of the axles (outside of tire to outside of tire) is 10.25"

Next, more building.
