TORMENT SHORT COURSE TRUCK

Kicking off this guide of 6 affordable off-road RTRs is the Torment short course truck. This 1/10-scale SCT is the only short course truck in the group and comes ready-to-run with only requiring a battery pack and compatible battery charger. Shown here is the orange version complete with K&N livery. Two other versions are available including a white version with Lucas Oil livery and a yellow version done up with a custom ECX paint scheme.

Underneath the body you will find waterproof electronics to give you the peace of mind that you can keep running even in wet conditions. A Dynamite Tazer speed control is mated to a Dynamite 15-turn brushed motor and the Torment is controlled by a Spektrum STX2 2.4GHz radio system.

RUCKUS MONSTER TRUCK

Building off the platform of the Torment, the Ruckus monster truck gives you some big wheel, car crushing action. Two variations of the Ruckus are available, an orange body or the black body featured here. You gain some extra ground clearance with the big 4.03-inch diameter tires with aggressive Shootout tire tread. The chassis has fully independent suspension with oil-filled shocks at each corner. The transmission is spun by a Dynamite 15-turn brushed motor and is supported by an adjustable slipper clutch.

CIRCUIT STADIUM TRUCK

If you are looking for a quick and nimble truck, a stadium truck is a great choice like the ECX Circuit. ECX powered the Circuit with a Dynamite motor system including a 60A waterproof electronic speed control that sends juice to a potent 15-turn brushed motor. A gear differential allows this truck to corner easily and its oil-filled shocks and independent suspension keep the chassis stable. There is a green silkscreened body or a blue one with wild graphics. And it typical stadium truck setup, it uses front ribbed tires and spike treaded tires for the rear.

The ECX Amp is another monster truck option for you in this guide. It has the performance and durability to allow it to conquer rough terrain and be a blast on asphalt. There is either a white or black silkscreened body with decals to choose from and the he only thing you need to get the AMP up and running are AA batteries for the 2.4GHz transmitter. In the box is a Dynamite NiMH battery charger and a Dynamite 7.2V 1800mAh NiMH battery pack.

AMP CRUSH MONSTER TRUCK

Based on the Amp monster truck shown above is the Amp Crush monster truck that comes with a cool-looking, old school, square-body pick-up truck body. One big difference from the other model of the AMP is that the Crush does not require anything additional to get rolling because everything is included in the box. ECX decked out the Crush with a Spektrum 3KG waterproof steering servo, an ECX 2.4GHz transmitter, an ECX waterproof 2-in-1 ESC and 2.4GHz receiver combo, a Dynamite 540 20-turn brushed motor, 200mAh wall battery charger, a Dynamite Speedpack 1800mAh NiMH battery pack and AA transmitter batteries.

This buggy is equipped with some large diameter tires to allow it to clear most off-road obstacles without much fuss.
