OVERVIEW
The high-performance BD11, which has impressed the world’s top drivers, has evolved further and many new parts have been designed while inheriting the characteristic parts such as the ATF active top deck flex and the 5mm thick carbon suspension arms. A key update is the lower center of gravity built into the BD12.
The front and rear split upper deck is a major feature of the BD12. Pitching rigidity is provided with the newly designed aluminum motor mount and offers a lower center of gravity.
The motor mount is equipped with a graphite plate that further enhances pitching rigidity. The structure also serves as a means to keep the battery from sliding into the pinion/spur assembly and Yokomo plans to release a brass version as an option.
Although the front hub carrier has the same alignment as before, it has a different shape so that it can be installed with a body stiffener. This prevents interference between tires and fenders when downforce is applied, preventing stalls and other issues.
The BD12 main chassis has a shallower dish than before and the thickness around the screws has been increased for enhanced durability. The spacer for adjusting the height of the suspension mount also uses a large diameter type to diffuse the stress in a crash and prevent damage to the main chassis.
Redesigned by changing the spur gear, which was conventionally 110T and is now 90T. And the motor mount was lowered to give it a lower center of gravity.
In addition, by moving the motor closer to the center of the chassis, mass is concentrated, pitching motion is reduced, and stability during acceleration and deceleration is enhanced.
The damper cap, cylinder and damper end have been redesigned to make it more compact.
By installing a bearing in the spring cup and releasing the torsion of the spring during the stroke, it is possible to draw out the original performance of the spring linearly.
The front shock tower has more holes on the outside than before thus offering more shock settings.
The rear shock is a mounted laterally and it is possible to support a wide range of settings by adding a spacer.
