Are 3D printed carbon fiber cars the future of RC?

Within the same office building as RC Driver magazine are the Fly RC, Heli Pilot and MultiRotor Pilot magazine offices. We were a little jealous when a 3D printer arrived in the MultiRotor Pilot shop to print custom frames for projects. Oh, the things we dream of printing for our scale and truck projects! But how would the parts hold up?  The plastics are in fact pretty durable, but it looks like things are getting better. We stumbled upon this article on 3dprintingindustry.com that mentions using a new carbon fiber reinforced plastic to print parts and it appears a well known company in the industry, Schumacher Racing, is already printing lightweight cars. This is some pretty interesting technology mixed with evolving advanced materials and it may mean that someday we could 3D print nearly complete cars on Saturday and race them on Sunday! Check out the complete article here: 3D Printing A Remote Controlled Race Car in Carbon Fibre
