THE GOODS
The CowRC Jet Blaster’s size is compact, about a little bit smaller than your standard radio. The unit features a metal body powder coated white with plastic handle and metal blower tube. A small push on/off push button is located on the upper left side of the handle so it can easily be operated with the push of your thumb. On the bottom you’ll see three rubber feet and the intake port covered with foam to keep dirt out of the motor. Several of the attachments simply slide over the large top nozzle. The small cone attachments snap in so the increased pressure does not blow them off. The tube slides into the small cone nozzle and has a flex section to wiggle into hard to reach areas. The smaller chisel tip or brush tip can be placed on the tube to help knock off and blow away nasty cow pies, er um, dirt. There are just over eleven feet of cord on the Jet Blaster so you can plug it in and stand far enough away from your pit to blow off your vehicle without blowing it on your pit bench. Finally CowRC wraps the Blaster with a cool decal that features “The Cow.”
THE WORKS
We certainly have plenty of dirty cars in the RC Driver offices, so we had selection of test subjects to try the Cow RC Jet Blaster and see what it could do. First up, we used the wide chisel tip to blow off a number of dusty bodies. The wide air flow made it easy to blow off the larger surface areas. Next it was to clean some internals. We had a few dusty cars from the previous week’s race where dirt from the indoor track managed to cover every part on the cars. With the smaller cone nozzle installed for greater pressure, we cleaned up several cars. The light dust blew right off and the cars were already looking better. There was still some light dust where oily or greasy finger prints were on the chassis and some oily grimy build-ups around the shocks and diffs of the cars. After adding the tube and brush small tip attachment, we were able to blow off a lot more of the grime left behind. To get the stubborn stuff totally clean, the brush tip was added and parts were brushed and blown off at the same time. Our three vehicles that we cleaned with the CowRC Jet Blaster looked great and get excellent marks for final cleaning. The only issue we noticed in our testing was that the Blaster can get hot if you clean for long periods, especially with the smaller attachments on. During a 4-5 minute cleaning test’ (the car was actually clean in under 3 minutes) we threw a temp gun on the body of the Blaster and it was at a temp of 157-degrees Fahrenheit. That’s a little toasty so watch your knuckles on that handle if cleaning for long periods. The directions say the blower may shut down if overheated, but will work after it has cooled down. The other thing to watch is that it is noisy, we got it up to 97dB with the small tip attachment, so just be mindful of your pit neighbor when using this at an indoor track.
WRAP UP
So the question remains, will the Jet Blaster do as good of a job as a big air compressor with 100psi of air blowing through an air gun style hose? It’s pretty close. There is a little extra work like using a brush or brush attachment to help knock off and blow away the stubborn dirt, but the Jet Blaster does clean a car well and up to the standards we have when presenting our cars for racing. The Jet Blaster cleans up great, it’s less expensive than a big compressor, more portable than a compressor and stows easily in a pit bag. It works on any RC car, on-road, off-road, monster truck, sedan, you name it. Its also great for cleaning up your other RC gear like dusty chargers or a radio. CowRC did it again, offering another great product that will help you have a better RC experience.
