This rig probably holds the record for the slowest build in the RC Driver workshop. Hobby Recreation Products, distributor of many popular products in RC sent over this GMade GOM Rock Buggy kit well over 8 months ago. Since it was a kit, we set up a section of workbench dedicated to this build. With everything going on at RC Driver, we probably completed one step every other day during the build process. The rig went together fairly well. Parts fit was good. We’re interested to see how the cast metal gears hold up and the only part that tripped us up was assembling the center transmission. Its like you need four hands to get it together. Our only other issue with the rig is the electronics area from the battery access to the space provided for the electronics. It’s very tight quarters, but we managed to stuff a 11.1V LiPo in and a Tekin RX4 ESC.
So here’s the battery door and slot area. MaxAmps.com was kind enough to supply a 11.1V LiPo for the test. However the hardcase pack won’t fit into the battery slot. Luckily we had a Duratrax softcase 11.1V pack on hand that fits and that’s what we’ll use for the test.
This kit is ready to go, we just have to find the right spot to test it. We won’t be racing this rock racer, we’re just going to put it through some general bashing fun. Here’s a few more photos of this cool looking machine.
