When it comes to high-bite, slick tire racing, look no further than the Octagons. At the appropriate time, and when less tread is an advantage, vehicles can be tough to drive. The beauty of the Octagons lay just beneath the surface where JConcepts has removed a little surface area in the geometry based pattern.
ABOUT
The carcass is new, slightly rounder and lower profile than JConcepts slick tires of the past. The Octagons incorporate heavy X-pattern style inner ribbing for increased support. The continuous thickness carcass is light-weight and utilizes the industry standard 3.0” x 2.2” mounting bead. Like the name suggests, the embossed tread which is Octagon shaped is repeated and overlapped to form a subculture of grippy surface edges for dry or abrasive surfaces.
The main surface of the tire has the reliable slick and smooth surface which grips in tough conditions. The Octagons are now available in aqua, green, black, indoor clay, and gold compounds. These offerings can match just about any racing surface. Each package includes the Dirt-Tech insert which was popularized by its durable nature and gray color. This provides customers the combo package they have been waiting for from JConcepts.
AT THE TRACK
At the 2018 ROAR Off-Road Nationals, the Octagon’s were the tire to have in the Modified Short Course class. Drivers Ryan Cavalieri, Spencer Rivkin and Alex Kosciuszek put on a great display in qualifying with Cavalieri ultimately earning the coveted top qualifying honors. During the mains, it was once again, Cavalieri and Rivkin racing to the finish in an epic three A-main format to decide the championship. As he has done so many times, it was Ryan Cavalieri pulling down an A3 victory to secure the championship for JConcepts and the first for the Octagon Short Course Racing tire.
