With a small cut out window in the box, you can see exactly what you are getting before you purchase the Mini 8IGHT-T from Losi.
Losi knows a thing or two about releasing a successful mini platform vehicle. The Mini T, Mini LST and the Mini 8IGHT have all been huge hits and were all based off of larger vehicles that were plenty successful in their own right. Now, Losi is back at it, with a not-so-mini mini, the Mini 8IGHT-T . Inspired from the 1/8-scale 8IGHT-T Truggy, we here at RC Driver had a first look at this mini truggy and if our reveal is any indication, this will be another success story for Losi. Check out all of the cool RCD Reveal shots below and see for yourself!

More than from the box window, Losi wants to let you know all about the cool features on this little truggy right on the front of the box.
AVC! I am a huge fan of Active Vehicle Control from Spektrum and it is a standard feature on the Mini 8IGHT-T.
The back of the box highlights individual details on the Mini 8IGHT-T.
What’s in the box? EVERYTHING! Losi gives you the entire package including “AA” batteries for the Spektrum transmitter. Quite literally, when you buy the Mini 8IGHT-T you don’t need another thing.
I’m often tempted to skip over the instructions but as I have, let’s say, matured, I always look them over before I hit the road. The instructions here are well-detailed and if you are not in the know about AVC, be sure to look this part over.
The DX2E from Spektrum is AVC-equipped and is adjustable using the deal rate knob. It is lightweight and has a great feel.
The included 2/3a NiMH battery pack and charger are a nice touch. Beginners won’t need to reach back into their pocket to buy these separately.
The right hand side is well-detailed and looks just like a scaled down version of its big brother.
A mirror image of the right hand side, the left hand side has cool Losi, Mini 8IGHT-T and Spektrum decals.
Head on, the Mini 8IGHT-T looks mean and aggressive. It features the popular cab-forward design to add front end down force to improve high-speed steering.
The back end features a small truggy style wing that aids in keeping the back end well planted. The rear shocks mount behind the tower and have multiple mounting positions.
The foundation of the Mini 8IGHT-T is the aluminum plate chassis. It is plenty rigid and considerably longer than the chassis used on the 8IGHT Mini Buggy.
Standard sized 1/10-scale 2.2″ buggy tires and wheels are used. This means that the tires used on your 22 will fit the Mini 8IGHT-T .
The front suspension arms are plenty long and are super beefy and durable. Turnbuckles, hubs and knuckles are also super beefy for added durability.
This overhead shot shows how clean the layout of the Mini 8IGHT-T truggy is. It is well-balanced with the motor on the right hand side and battery (not pictured) on the left.
The included receiver sits right in front of the battery and is AVC-equipped.
The Dynamite Fuze motor and ESC pack a punch! The ESC is also waterproof.
The steering bellcrank is updated on the Mini 8IGHT-T and has less slop than the system used on the buggy.
The front shock tower is made from aluminum and is plenty durable. The threaded shocks are plush and easy to adjust with threaded bodies.
Standard 12mm wheel adapters are used on the Mini 8IGHT-T , making it compatible with many aftermarket tires and wheels. The long suspension arms should do the trick in soaking up surface imperfections. And the best part, the Mini 8IGHT-T has a gear cover! No more stripped spur gears from dirt and debris.
WRAP UP I am already harping on Walter, our staff photographer, to finish up the studio shots on this little truggy so we can get the test drive of the 8IGHT-T Mini done. This complete package has it all: a waterproof brushless power system, battery pack and charger and a fantastic Spektrum radio system that is AVC-equipped. While self-described as a 1/14-scale mini, it looks similar in size to old-school 1/10-scale vehicles like the Tamiya Hornet and Grasshopper. So do you like what you see? Then be sure to be on the lookout for our full Driven review of the 8IGHT-T Mini in the shiny pages of RC Driver magazine in the very near future.
