Having options is a good thing, especially when it comes to RC vehicles. Monster trucks specifically like the popular Arrma Kraton 6S, which was designed to be a hardcore bash truck, will inevitably be driven on all types of terrain. This means that having various monster truck tire options at your disposal is a huge benefit. Following is Pro-Line’s 9 performance-boosting tire choices for the Kraton so that you can fully tap into all the performance that this incredible truck has to offer.
Pro-Line Raid 3.8” Wheels
Each of the Pro-Line tires listed in this article come pre-mounted on Pro-Line wheels, meaning they are factory glued and ready to go as soon as you get them out of the packaging (sold two per package). Pro-Line utilized its Raid 3.8” Removable Hex Wheels for all of these monster truck tires and the removable hex is the most significant feature of these wheels. Imagine being able to replace a damaged wheel hex without needing to replace your glued tires. Pro-Line designed the Raid wheels by using a unique 17mm wide offset 8×32 interlocking hex design that is secured to the wheel with eight M3 screws. If you ever damage one of the hexes, they can be purchased separately in a package of four hexes (item # PRO634500).
The Raid wheels are constructed from high-strength and very durable DuPont nylon material which will stand up to the forces faced by large monster trucks like the Kraton. It is obvious that Pro-Line took its time to create a mold that would give the Raid wheels a lot of detail. In fact the 10-spoke wheel design mimics full-size racing wheels and they look great in their dark black color.
All of the monster truck tires shown here will work either in the front or rear of the Kraton, have a 3.8” wheel diameter, come mounted on the black Pro-Line Raid 3.8” wheels fitted with a 17mm hex and come two to a package.
Pro-Line Badlands Tires
Pro-Line offers three Badlands mounted tires for the Arrma Kraton: Badlands, Badlands MX38 and Badlands MX38 HP Belted. If you are at all familiar with motocross bikes, you can see how the Badlands were based on motocross tread technology. They feature oversized grass and dirt shredding lugs that will give your ride the ultimate in performance under all-terrain type conditions. The large size of the lugs give these tires great durability characteristics.
The Badlands were the first version followed by the Badlands MX38 which kicks up the motocross inspired tread up a notch with even bigger and bolder knobby tread that mimic what you see on modern motocross designs. One glance between the versions and the differences in design is quickly apparent. Where the Badlands MX38 tires are best suited, is on loose and loamy dirt, mud or grass.
The third iteration of the Badlands are the Badlands MX38 HP Belted. They are essentially the same as the Badlands MX38, but are belted for improved handling especially at higher speeds. Inside of the molded tire is a special belt in a herringbone weave pattern that will help keep the tire from ballooning. Without the belt, the tires will expand becoming nearly twice the diameter and getting much thinner which causes the truck to be very hard to control. Theses Badlands MX38 HP Belted tires measure 3.48-inches wide and 6.8-inches tall and provide the incredible grip that you expect from Pro-Line due to the soft M2 compound and the aggressive motocross inspired tread.
Pro-Line Dumont—#PRO1019210
We are sure you can tell as soon as you see them that these Pro-Line Dumont tires are purpose built for a specific use. Pro-Line designed these tires from the ground up to sling sand and snow further than ever before. They feature the latest in paddle tread technology with large offset V-shaped paddles to achieve the utmost sand roosting power. Even though the Dumont tires are very purpose-built, Pro-Line gave them a cool slick look complete with the “P-L” logos embedded into the carcass of the tire. The name Dumont comes from the impressive Dumont sand dunes located in California, but these paddle tires are equally at home tearing through snow in the winter.
Pro-Line Road Rage—#PRO117710
For those of you that want to step away from the off-road terrain and take the Kraton for some asphalt shredding, concrete carving, pavement punishing, the Pro-Line Road Rage tires are a great option. Pro-Line developed the Road Rage with a tread that will give you the traction and handling characteristics that you are looking for. A crucial features is the ultra-low sidewall that is incorporated into the Road Rage so that you can get the maximum in predictability, stability and responsiveness. You will also find that your Kraton will accelerate quicker since these tires weigh less than your average tire/wheel combo.
Pro-Line Street Fighter HP Belted—#PRO1016710
Following in the footsteps of the Road Rage tires mentioned above are the Pro-Line Street Fighter HP Belted tires. These are essentially the next step up if you want the ultimate in performance for those high-speed runs on pavement. Yes these tires will cost you more, but you gain the massive benefit that the Street Fighters are belted. This means that molded into the tires is a high-performance herringbone weave pattern belt that will prevent the tire from ballooning or expanding during use. If you have ever drive a high speed vehicle with standard tires, you know how unstable it becomes as the tires expand. With the Street Fighter HP Belted tires you will get extreme control so that you can take full advantage of all the power that the Kraton has on tap to achieve some serious high speed runs.
Pro-Line spec’d its soft M2 compound along with aggressive tread grooves for excellent grip. The Street Fighter tires name has been in the Pro-Line line-up but not specifically for monster trucks like the Arrma Kraton 6S. These tires measure 3.11-inches wide and 6.22-inches tall to fit the current generation of monster trucks.
Pro-Line Trencher Tires
Just like the Badland tires shown at the beginning of this article, there are three versions of the Pro-Line Trencher tires. As the name implies, the wild looking horizontal H shaped treads will give your Kraton loads of forward bite and with the super tall Trencher tread, you’ll find that durability and longevity you have been hunting for. The Trencher LP is a low profile size that measures 2.96-inches wide and 5.6-inches tall. Inside the tires are soft foam inserts and soft M2 compound is spec’d for the tires itself.
Stepping up the Trencher X will give you a larger overall tire that pushes the dimensions to 4.15-inches wide by 6.5-inches tall which contributes to being a great selection for bashing. Additionally the tread height is 1/4-inches tall for some extraordinary durability while the horizontal H shaped tread gives ridiculous amounts of side-to-side stability. The Trencher X tires are designed to give monster trucks like the Kraton optimal traction on just about any surface.
Rounding out this list of Pro-Line’s 9 performance-boosting tire choices for the Kraton is the Trencher HP Belted. It is arguably the best tire for bashing out of the entire bunch.
Pro-Line was able to develop the technology to mold high-performance herringbone weave pattern inside of these massive and super grippy treaded tires. Hence the HP in the Trencher HP Belted name. Install a complete set of these pre-mounted tires on your Arrma Kraton for some serious all terrain bashing. With the Trencher HPs you can feel confident that you will have the traction you need and be able to fully utilize all the power from the Arrma brushless motor and keep this monster truck in complete control. The special belt inside the Trencher HP will not allow the tire to balloon or to expand at high speed. Since this tire retains the Trencher name, you will find the proven horizontal H shaped tread to provide the stability and grip you demand for bashing. These are not your average run of the mill belted tires!
