Team Associated has just released an awesome on-road car to get the job done. The
Apex Scion FR-S is the latest in the Qualifier Series from AE which is aimed at bringing quality affordable kits to the entry-level to intermediate enthusiast. What hits you first about this car is the awesome Scion FR-S body shell detailed with a Rocket Bunny Aero Kit and sporting pro drift driver Ken Gushi’s colors and sponsor decals. The look is very cool, but the thing that stumped us is this ultra-cool drift replica sports high traction rubber tires. Don’t get us wrong, the tires look great and appear they’ll grab lots of traction, but this is a drift replica, where are the drift tires? We guess we’ll take the fast lines on our test track. But back to the cool features, the car is equipped with a 3300kv brushless motor and XP SC500-BL speed control complete with high current T-connector. An included 1800mAh Reedy Wolfpack battery gets you going and you’ll just need to pick up a charger to pump the power into the pack. The all-wheel drive car sports steel driveshafts, steel ring and pinion gears and steel gears inside the differentials. The composite chassis is rigid and modular for easier maintenance. Oil filled shocks damp the suspension and a standard torque servo swings the steering cranks. There’s no question this car was built for pure fun and we’re looking forward to hitting the parking lot for “testing” during work hours!
