The 2012 Large Scale Nationals were held at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, CA. Through rain, sleet and snow (ok, just lots of rain and bitter cold temps), 91 drivers came out to thrown down on a great track with lots of jumps, sweepers and a big ol’ straight that certainly let the big motors fly.
I, unfortunately, had a bit of a rough weekend. Engine problems all weekend kept the 5B from making any qualifying runs and things didn’t go much better in the main. I did TQ the 2WD Truck class but thanks to a over-zealous turn marshal, broke the rear suspension arm on the warm-up lap trying to remove it from being stuck on a track divider. I didn’t even start the race. In the 4WD class, the Losi was DIALED. Won the B, bumped to the A, and with 11 minutes left was in 2nd and 1 turn behind the leader. Fate decided I shouldn’t finish ANY races this weekend and while passing the start/finish line, a front tire fell off. Lame.
Anyway, I want to thank a few people for their help this weekend. Even with the issues, I know I have the best crew around and will pull off another Large-Scale National win soon.
Gabe Brown – www.gberacing.com – killer parts and pipes, and the best mechanic out there.
Chris Bartolone – www.bartoloneracing.com – man builds some serious horsepower; perfect for anyone wanting some major ponies in their Losi truck.
Torrance Deguzman from HPI – this guys incredible knowledge and out of the box thinking will make my 5B and 5T absolutely unstoppable in 2013.
