Vaterra Ascender K5 Blazer Build – Part 9 – Bumpers, Side Bars, Wheels/Tires
The Build – Part 9 Well, you’ve made it to the final step of the Vaterra Ascender K5 Blazer build. Hopefully your build looks similar to the one here! Let’s finish this project up…
Vaterra Ascender K5 Blazer Build Step 133 Attach the tow hooks and winch cover to the front bumper.Vaterra Ascender K5 Blazer Build Step 134 Screw the front bumper assembly to the chassis. Don’t forget to install the two plastic spacers. These extend the bumper out so it doesn’t hit the K5 body.Vaterra Ascender K5 Blazer Build Step 135 Attach the pair of tow hooks to the rear bumper.Vaterra Ascender K5 Blazer Build Step 136 Using the 4 plastic washers, mount the bumper to the chassis. Like the front, these washers extend the bumper out.Vaterra Ascender K5 Blazer Build Step 137 Mount the side bar extenders to the chassis.Vaterra Ascender K5 Blazer Build Step 138 Now mount the side bar to the side bar extenders. You might need to twist the extenders a bit to get them to mate correctly.Vaterra Ascender K5 Blazer Build Step 139 Insert the front body posts into the mounts. Yes, we’re skipping the tire build for a sec.Vaterra Ascender K5 Blazer Build Step 140 Now insert the rear body post into the mounts.Vaterra Ascender K5 Blazer Build Step 141 Insert the foam rings into the tires, then press the wheels into the tires. Using CA glue, apply a small amount to each side of the tire bead. Give it a few minutes (maybe 10) before flipping it over and repeating the process on the backside.
That’s it! Mount the tires and body to the K5 and get that sucker out on the trails!
Thanks for following along with the Vaterra Ascender K5 build.
